Hopman Cup

The number one tennis event in Australia’s calendar runs from 30 December – 6 January. The Hopman Cup brings in a number of International players, which has previously included Andy Murray, Serena Williams and Roger Federer.

The Ashes

The sun is shining and that means that cricket season is upon us. The Ashes will be held in Perth December 14 – 18 at the historic WACA grounds, East Perth. This year’s Ashes is set to be extra special with the famous England VS Australia cricket test match being held at the WACA for the very last time.

NBL season with The Wildcats

If you’re a big fan of basketball then a visit to Perth Arena to see Perth’s very own Wildcats is definitely on the cards. The Wildcats have won 8 NBL Championships, 13 Grand Final Appearances and made 31 Finals Appearances. Catch them in action at one of their upcoming games from November – February or take a look at Perth Arena to see what else is on.

Soccer AKA Football with Perth Glory

Perth Glory played their first game in 1996 and have since captured the hearts of Soccer lovers everywhere. Search their fixtures for a game in November – April at home ground NIB Stadium.

Big Bash League

Perth just can’t get enough of cricket in the summer. The Big Bash should be top of your list for the ultimate Aussie experience.  Plenty of fast paced cricket on-field, great music, fireworks and plenty of entertainment from start to finish – all packed into a few hours. The family friendly event runs from December 26 – January 25.


For the first time ever, Western Australia welcomes the Octagon® as UFC® 221 finds its home in Perth Arena. 1. Golden Egg Hunt

The City of Perth Library is hosting a Golden Egg Hunt in Cathedral Square this Easter! Get your Golden Egg brochure from the library, then follow the clues to find all the eggs. 2. Free Painting Workshop

As part of the current Artist Activation at Art Gallery of WA, Noongar artists Esther McDowell/Yabini Kickett invite children to join in a free dry brush painting workshop exploring multi-media artwork and endemic species. It’s a little bit of learning with a lot of art. Free, however booking is required. Dates: 17, 18, 24, 26 April. Learn more.

3. Pizza Making Classes

Want the kids to learn to cook without making a mess of your kitchen? Let them make a mess in someone else’s! The Island eatery at Elizabeth Quay, just an 5-8 min walk from Holiday Inn, is hosting pizza making classes for kids aged 4 – 12 this school holidays. Parents will need to stick around while your kids make lunch, but you can enjoy a bubbles or two while they do it. Dates: 15 – 16 April. Learn more.

4. Free Flicks For Kids

Each Saturday at Northbridge Piazza you can expect a free kids outdoor movie on the grass. Kick back with a beanbag, popcorn and your picnic, for a great free night in the city. No booking required! 5. Free Pancake Decorating

This Easter long weekend join Ivy & Jack at their breakfast buffet for free pancake decorating! 6. Jazz for Juniors


Do your kids love music? WAYJO have a very special school holiday program where they introduce the instruments of a jazz band. Kids have the opportunity to try an instrument and learn from the best. The program sells out, so be sure to get in quick. Dates: 16 – 17 April. Learn more.


7. The Perth Mint

The Perth Mint is a favourite among the little ones. Who wouldn’t want to see pure gold being heated to molten temperatures then poured into a gold bar!? It’ll leave the kids amazed and wanting more. There is plenty to do at the Perth Mint, take a wander through the gold exhibition or stop to see the one tonne gold coin in all it’s glory. They also offer guided heritage walks of the building, the secure vault and the original melting house. 8. BHP Billiton Water Park

Summer is set to be a scorcher and the perfect way to cool down during the school holidays is at the mini water park at Elizabeth Quay. Let the kids run wild through the water fountains while you sit back with an ice-cream from Gusto Gelato. And when the kids have had enough fun in the fountains, getting back to your room in Perth City Centre takes just 5-minutes! Dates: Open all year. Learn more.

9. Room on the Broom live  

Award-winning picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, Room on the Broom, has been adapted for the stage! Watch as a helpful dog, bird and frog find the witch’s lost things. This comes after sell out adaptation shows of The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child. Room on the Broom will be showing at State Theatre Centre of WA, just minutes’ walk from Holiday Inn Perth. Dates: 23 – 28 April.

10.  Kings Park

With some of Perth’s best playgrounds, there are so many things to climb and explore. The Rio Tinto Naturescape is always a favourite – but be warned, the kids will get a bit dirty!
