Perth Winter Arts Festival Invites You to the City

 

This winter, from June to August, Perth is hosting its biggest ever winter festival. A unique cultural program will get you through the colder months, with something on every night of the week across 130 free and ticketed events.

More than 60 participating organisations and artists are set to entertain audiences with music, comedy, theatre, cabaret, film, dance, literature and visual arts at Winter Arts Festival 2016.

The festival will bring local, national and international artists together, and utilise a variety of both expected and unexpected venues across the city, from Perth’s iconic theatres to outdoor, public spaces. This epic event has everyone’s tastes covered withall the arts represented. Some Program Highlights include:

A Perfect Specimen

Behold the dying days of the travelling freak show and the tragic true story of its star attraction: Julia Pastrana, the ape-woman.

The Caucasian Chalk Circle

Set against the backdrop of a tumultuous civil war, this epic work is an engaging parable about motherhood, ownership and identity.

Little Shop of Horrors

Meek and mild flower shop assistant Seymour Krelborn has stumbled across a peculiar new plant species, which he names after his stunning but vulnerable colleague Audrey. Before he knows it, Seymour and Audrey must battle the perilous and persuasive plant not just for their lives, but for the very future of planet earth!

Comic Tragics: the exploding language of contemporary comic art

An international multi-media exploration of the inner life of the comic artist and their incredibly intense, personal and affecting comic works that connect with audiences in unexpected and powerful ways.

Scooby-Doo Live! Level Up

For Scooby fans young and old, this interactive live show with big musical numbers pays homage to video games. Can the Gang escape from a virtual world of creepy gaming ghosts?

Winter Artsbar

Winter ArtsBar is for the curious, artistic and adventurous to perform, create and play! A tunnel under St Georges Terrace will be transformed with multi-media projections, LED installations and live performances from electronica to opera.

Winter Supper Club

Perth Town Hall undercroft and foyer host a colourful international food market serving hearty meals and snacks with a generous side of free live music.
