Perth Royal Show 2025: Your Guide to School Holiday Fun

Perth Royal Show 2025: Your Guide to School Holiday Fun

The countdown is on! There’s not long to go until the Perth Royal Show returns to Claremont Showgrounds for 2025, from Saturday 27 September to Saturday 04 October. Whether it’s your first time going or a yearly family tradition, the Show is packed with family-friendly activities, entertainment and experiences to keep everyone busy these school holidays.

We’ve put together a guide for the best things to do at the Perth Royal Show for 2025, from crowd favourites to new additions, so you can make the most out of your trip this year.

The Yellow Brick Road is here to stay!

After being brought back in 2024 following a 6 year break, the Yellow Brick Road is officially here to stay in 2025! Arguably one of the shows most beloved and best-value experiences, the Yellow Brick Road offers a two-hour adventure trail blending fun, food, and learning for just $15 (valued at $50). Take home a branded Yellow Brick Road Backpack, as well as keepsakes, snacks, and more! While it’s especially designed for kids aged 5-12, it’s open to anyone who wants to have a bit of fun (plus – who’s gonna say no to 2-for-1 toasties from the dairy pavilion?).

Food and Treats

Walking through the Showgrounds, it’s hard to escape the smell of sizzling chips, buttered corn, hot cinnamon doughnuts, and of course the classic dagwood dogs. Got a sweet tooth? There’s plenty of fairy floss and toffee apples to be found.

But this year there’s even more for foodies to enjoy. Introducing… Grazeland! A brand new food & drink precinct bringing together the best of WA’s flavours into one buzzing location. Think global cuisine, street food, exciting drinks and local specialties, all paired with live cooking demos and educational shows on the new Grazeland Stage. With indoor and outdoor areas to explore, it’s perfect for families, curious minds and more.

Farmyard Fun!

WA’s farming community shines at the Perth Royal Show. Take a wander through the Animal Nursery and get up close and personal with a range of barnyard creatures. Cuddle a lamb, pat a pig, brush a bunny – the Animal Nursery is the perfect place for families, animal lovers, and anyone who enjoys getting up close with life on the farm!

Animal Competitions

The Perth Royal Show is home to some of the state’s biggest agricultural and animal competitions. From livestock judging and horse jumping, to dog agility trails and the ever-popular cat judging competitions (if you’re on that side of TikTok) – these events showcase serious skill, dedication, and showmanship.

Whether you’re cheering for the champion cattle or checking out some fancy felines, these competitions are a fascinating glimpse into WA’s agricultural scene and run throughout the week of the Show.

Don’t forget the Woodchopping!

It wouldn’t be the Perth Royal Show without woodchopping! Somehow, no one thinks they care about woodchopping until they’re standing in the crowd, completely hooked and cheering on competitors as they chop into giant logs with incredible speed and precision.

It’s raw strength, skill, and tradition on full display. Catch the action at the Woodchop Arena and Main Arena throughout the show – trust us, it’s addictive and you’ll end up watching waaaaay longer than you planned!

Rides, Games, Prizes

Arguably one of the major highlights of going to the show is the rides. From heart-pounding thrill rides to nostalgic classics, there’s something for everyone! Take in the sights from the top of the Ferris wheel, scream your way through twisting roller coasters and haunted houses, or enjoy crowd favourites like teacups and bumper cars. Plus, try your luck at all of the classic carnival games in Sideshow Alley and take home some prizes! (Everyone wants to win one of those giant teddys).

Showbags Galore

No trip to the Perth Royal Show is complete without a showbag (or three) to take home. From timeless favourites like the Bertie Beetle bag, to the latest TV, toy and fashion themed collections – there are hundreds of options to choose from with something for every age and budget. Check out this year’s line up here.

Jack’s Journey

Jack’s Journey

Some guests check in with luggage. Jack checked in without an owner, without a clue, and without a single word of explanation (he’s not much of a talker). This is the story of how a little toy dog captured our hearts, and half the world’s media while he was at it!

The discovery

Jack was first spotted tangled up in our laundry linen in late June. Saved by one of our Housekeepers, he sat patiently waiting in the Housekeeping office for his family to come rescue him. He looked so well loved, we were sure that someone would be back for him soon!

The search begins

Weeks passed, and yet no one seemed to be coming back for our lost dog. So we put the word out across social media in the hope that someone would recognise him! We named him ‘Jack’ and put him to work around the hotel in the meantime to keep him busy. The internet got behind him, and Jack quickly became part of the Holiday Inn team as we searched high and low, following every lead to try and find his rightful home.

jack hits the headlines

Somewhere along the way, Jack went from ‘lost toy’ to ‘local celebrity’. Then from local celebrity to ‘international media star’. People from all over the world were hearing about Jack’s story and wanting to help him find his pawrents!

He had features & interviews in:

jack explores perth & rottnest

In between his busy schedule of hotel life & interviews, Jack made time to see the sights. He’s had adventures all around Perth and even hopped on the ferry to Rottnest Island, where he blended right in with the locals (quokkas and all). By now, we reckon he’s definitely earned his status as an honourary Perth citizen!

did he find his family?

Despite all of our emails, phone calls, social media posts, press, and puppy-dog eyes – no one ever came forward to claim him. We chased every lead we could find, but Jack’s real family was no where to be found.

And so, there was only one solution: we adopted him ourselves! Jack is now officially part of the Holiday Inn Perth City Centre family. He’s staying close in-case his family ever comes back looking for him in the future, but for now? He’s home. Looks like he found us, instead of the other way around!

so… what’s next?

Don’t worry, Jack’s adventures aren’t over! He’ll be popping up around the hotel and keeping his fans updated from time to time while making the most of his new life in Perth. Who knows where you’ll spot him next?

To everyone who has shared his story, helped spread the word, or just cheered him on – thank you. You’ve helped turn a lost toy into a worldwide adventure.💚

Follow along on TikTok and Instagram to keep up with Jack’s next chapter!
