Family is at the core of our values and we encourage people to remember the significance of showing your love, as love has the power to heal the world. There is no such thing as too much love and sometimes we don’t know how to express it, so here is a bit of inspiration to show people that you care.
Send them an “I appreciate you” message
An unsolicited appreciation message will always put a smile one someones face. Whether you speak to them daily, or once in a blue moon, sending your loved one a message to say “I’m thinking about you and appreciate you” will make their day, or even their week!
Spend a little quality time together
There is a big difference between spending time and spending quality time together. Give your loved one your undivided attention by putting your phone away and going for a beach walk. This gives us the opportunity to speak openly and appreciate the time we spend with one another.
Bake their favourites
Everyone loves a yummy treat, especially when it has been with love. Going out of your way to bake something for your loved one is bound to warm up their heart and their tummy. Whether its chocolate chip cookies for the kids, or a carrot cake for your grandparents, everything tastes better when it’s made with love.
Organise a spontaneous trip
You don’t have to spend a fortune on a spontaneous trip, surprise your mum by booking a staycation at Holiday Inn Perth or plan a camping trip with the family. Going away without the headache of having to organise anything is a dream come true and your loved one will feel spoilt rotten.
We know the love we share with our families is unconditional, however it is always nice to feel appreciated. Remember to be kind, show love and you’ll receive love back. So go on, get lovin’!

Celebrate Service was created in 2010 as a way to recognize the hard work and dedication of the more than 350,000 employees who work at IHG’s managed and franchise properties around the world as well as IHG’s corporate offices. This is one of the industry’s largest recognition programs for front line teams and their dedication to providing our guests with outstanding service.
Who is sponsoring this?
Celebrate Service is a joint effort between IHG and the IHG Owners Association.
When will it be held?
In 2014, Celebrate Service Week will be held 9 June – 13 June.
Why is this so important?
To become one of the world’s great companies, we must have great brands delivered by great people. We want to acknowledge and celebrate employees at IHG branded hotels and throughout the IHG corporate offices are going above and beyond to provide outstanding service to our guests and our hotels.
Being recognized for doing great work is motivating for anyone, and a genuine thank you costs nothing. Making sure the people who work in our hotels and offices feel valued helps motivate them to do their best work – and that has a positive effect on the guest experience. Through Celebrate Service, we want to positively influence the pride of employees, their sense of accomplishment and their engagement, while developing goodwill throughout the IHG system.
What kinds of activities will happen during the week?
It is going to be a really fun week to celebrate the great things your employees do to provide outstanding service to your guests. You can celebrate one day or every day that week. To help get your creative juices flowing, we’ve provided a toolkit of ideas and lots of templates to customize posters, invitations and more on Merlin. This year, we have added even more tools, based on feedback from the Celebrate Service survey
Why Celebrate Service week and life at IHG is so great
1. Thanking those who have made us #1…
2. …and being thanked in return!
3. Getting in bright and early to give everyone a warm welcome
4. Lots and lots of celebration food…
5. Being served by our leaders!
6. Admiring everyone’s Celebrate Service selfies
7. Getting manicures and massages in the office
8. Getting competitive with colleagues old and new…
9. …in the spirit of celebrating and having fun!
10. And finally… a chance to tell the world that we’re PROUD to work for IHG!

The Freddie Awards are the oldest and most renowned recognition awards for frequent traveller reward programmes. Dubbed the ‘Voice of the Frequent Flyer’, the awards are decided by public votes based on the programme’s merits.
IHG® Rewards Club stood out from the competition by claiming a third of the evening’s award categories including:
• Programme of the Year (Europe & Africa)
• Best Customer Service (Europe & Africa)
• Best Promotion (Europe & Africa)
• Best Promotion (Middle East & Asia/Oceania)
• Best Redemption Ability (Europe & Africa)
Our Freddie Award wins come in the same month that IHG® Rewards Club was ranked second place on the J.D. Power 2014 Hotel Loyalty/Rewards Programme Satisfaction Report, confirming our position as an industry leader as well as the world’s largest hotel loyalty programme.
