Boola Bardip – Perth Museum – Everything you need to know

Boola Bardip – Perth Museum – Everything you need to know

Craft-Beer-Festival-Holiday-Inn-Perth

What is Boola Bardip?

The Western Australia Museum has recently announced that it will be re-named as the WA
Muesum Boola Bardip, meaning ‘many stories’ in the local Nyoongar language.

What has gone into the making of Boola Bardip?

After 4 years since closure and $396m worth of renovations, on Saturday the 21st of November, the highly anticipated re-opening of the Perth museum will be kicking off with a
nine day opening celebration.

What is in the museum?

With the latest scientific and cultural research promoting technology, science, engineering, mathematics and arts, through interactive and multi-media experiences, there is something to interest all audiences – making it the most exciting museum Perth has to offer.

What kind of exhibitions are there?

There are a number of fascinating and unique exhibitions on display at Boola Bardip, a few examples include:

Wild Life – Discover nature’s diversity

This multisensory exhibition contains rare specimens, live creatures and ancient fossils and explains the relationships between people, plants and animals. This exhibition also demonstrates how the communities are helping protect these ecosystems.

Origins – Land, water, sky

Explore the origins of the solar system, the foundations of life on earth and early human habitation. This exhibition explores the commonalities between Western world science and Aboriginal peoples’ knowledge and understanding of Western Australia’s land through rare objects, artwork and a multimedia sit.

Changes – Transforming landscapes

Explore the economic, social and cultural impacts of human activity on our world. How we have adapted to the landscape and how we have altered it to suit our needs. Share the knowledge of the Aboriginal people in the management and nurturing of the land and how the limitations of resources have shaped communities.

How to be one of the first to attend?

With the nine-day opening celebration beginning on Saturday 21 November, a free ballot will be in operation for people to visit the Perth museum.

The ballot has been open on WA museum’s website from the 7 September until 11.59pm on Wednesday 30 September. The tickets will then be randomly selected, with winners entitled up to 6 tickets each, they will enjoy a self-guided tour for 2 hours at the most exciting museum in Perth!

How much will it cost to enter?

The state government has announced that it will delay the $15 entry fee for the first 18 months. The state of the art museum contains 8 new galleries, 1,000m2 exhibition gallery, café and a function space.

Different ways to express your love

Different ways to express your love

Family is at the core of our values and we encourage people to remember the significance of showing your love, as love has the power to heal the world. There is no such thing as too much love and sometimes we don’t know how to express it, so here is a bit of inspiration to show people that you care.

Send them an “I appreciate you” message

An unsolicited appreciation message will always put a smile one someones face. Whether you speak to them daily, or once in a blue moon, sending your loved one a message to say “I’m thinking about you and appreciate you” will make their day, or even their week!

Spend a little quality time together

There is a big difference between spending time and spending quality time together. Give your loved one your undivided attention by putting your phone away and going for a beach walk. This gives us the opportunity to speak openly and appreciate the time we spend with one another.

Bake their favourites

Everyone loves a yummy treat, especially when it has been with love. Going out of your way to bake something for your loved one is bound to warm up their heart and their tummy. Whether its chocolate chip cookies for the kids, or a carrot cake for your grandparents, everything tastes better when it’s made with love.

Organise a spontaneous trip

You don’t have to spend a fortune on a spontaneous trip, surprise your mum by booking a staycation at Holiday Inn Perth or plan a camping trip with the family. Going away without the headache of having to organise anything is a dream come true and your loved one will feel spoilt rotten.

We know the love we share with our families is unconditional, however it is always nice to feel appreciated. Remember to be kind, show love and you’ll receive love back. So go on, get lovin’!

Nothing was too much trouble, the tables were big (so important with clumsy kids), the kids were given fantastic activity packs when we arrived plus kids under 12 eat free if you’re staying at the hotel (conditions do apply). And my boys are pretty fussy but wolfed down their food.

Some of the delicious meals hubs and I ate included Seafood Marinara (which was amazing) and a delicious Beef Burger served on a milk bun with onion rings (washed down with a beer of course).

The boys feasted on Spaghetti Bolognese and Fish and Chips. They loved the spaghetti so much they ordered it two nights in a row! We loved that the kids were served on colourful plastic plates with their own colourful cutlery too. It’s the little detail.” – Kate
